Mitigating Wildfire Around Your Home!
Ready, Set, Go!
HWMO fully supports the information and recommendations made by "Ready, Set, Go" and "FireWise" programs. These programs teach citizens how to make simple modifications to the home and surrounding landscape in order to mitigate potential wildfire damage.

The following information shows residents how to protect their homes, properties, and themselves from damage by wildfires. These documents teach residents how to become personally involved with fire mitigation around their houses and in their communities

Ready:
Ready your homes against potential wildfire threats. Ready your home by creating a fuelbreak space around the house and remove dead brush and snags on your lawn.
Follow "Ready, set, go" directions to ensure fire-resistant landscaping and home construction techniques.
Establish an escape rout and meeting place for your family and stock extra supplies in case of fire damage.

Set:
Stash supplies in your vehicle and be aware of local news and reports on local wildfire risk and damage.
Connect with your local fire department to receive notifications about local fire news.

Go:
Follow your action plan and steps you have taken to be prepared for wildfire.
Accessibility for fire responders around your house is necessary and following your action plan provides this.
