Hawaii Wildfire is linking up with Malama Kai Foundation's Ocean Warriors for this incredible and unique event! The Ocean Warriors program, an experiential youth program for local middle school students that engages them in "coastal stewardship and protection," will be putting on a showcase to demonstrate all they have learned about climate change and its causes, impacts, and solutions.
Join us for a coming-together of students, poets, local entities, and community members who care about natural and cultural resource protection. Through presentations, skits, and songs, Waikoloa and Kohala Middle School students will lead a discussion on environmental science and pressing issues followed by guest speakers who will share about local efforts and opportunities to take action.
The evening will include engaging performances by local poets and artists, as well as information tables before and after the presentation.
As part of the "impacts" portion of the performance, the knowledgable keiki will demonstrate the impacts wildfires have on Hawaii's ecosystems and communities. They will be doing this through a play about how "Kaleo the Pueo Found His Voice."
